ROCKFORD — James “Jim” LeRoy Fisher, 60, of Rockford, died October 27, 2026, at MercyOne North Iowa in Mason City. A husband, father of three daughters and proud grandfather, Jim enjoyed making people laugh and sharing time outdoors with those closest to him.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 30, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 21 Third Street NW in Rockford. Visitation will continue at the church Saturday, October 31, from 10 to 11 a.m.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Pastor Chan Gok Kim officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford. Fullerton Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Jim was born February 5, 1966, in Charles City to Delmer and Caroline (Mehmen) Fisher. One of seven children, he grew up in a large family and graduated from Rockford-Rudd-Marble Rock High School.
He devoted 29½ years to his work as a laborer at Andrews Prestressed Concrete, Inc., in Clear Lake, building a long record of service with the company.
On December 1, 1984, Jim married Melissa McFarland. Their marriage would span nearly 42 years, during which they raised daughters Tanya, Tera and Tiffany.
Jim brought a playful spirit to family life. He liked to joke and draw a laugh from the people around him, pairing that humor with kindness and affection. His grandsons, Austin and Ryan, were a particular source of pride. He treasured their company from their earliest days and enjoyed watching them grow.
Many of his favorite outings included family. Hunting trips brought him together with his brothers, brother-in-law, daughters and grandsons, along with his dogs, Harley and Bella. The chance to share those experiences mattered as much as the activity itself.
Jim also enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and riding his side-by-side. A card game offered another way to spend time with others when he was away from the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Fisher of Rockford; daughters, Tanya (Chad) Shimek of Nora Springs, Tera Fisher of Rockford, and Tiffany Fisher (Paul Smuck) of Rockford; and grandsons, Austin Shimek and Ryan Shimek.
Also surviving are his sisters, Robin (Scott) Shafer and Sandy (Kevin) Jones, both of Rockford; brother-in-law, Denny Fenton; sister-in-law, Vicki Fisher; brother-in-law, Tony (Genny) McFarland; and parents-in-law, Frank and June McFarland.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret Fisher, who died in infancy, and Carol “Sis” Fenton; brothers, Allan Fisher and Alvin Fisher; and nephews, Jordan Fenton and Duane Fisher.
His family’s memories include the jokes, hunting outings and everyday time together that made Jim such an important part of their lives.
Memories and condolences may be shared through Jim’s tribute page at Fullerton Funeral Home.
