FAIRBANK — A 911 hang-up call sent Fayette County deputies to a rural Northern Iowa intersection, where an investigation allegedly uncovered a physical domestic altercation and led to an arrest.
At approximately 9:20 p.m. September 12, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received the hang-up call near the intersection of 40th Street and X Avenue.
Deputies responded to the area, located the caller and began investigating what had happened.
Authorities said interviews revealed that a physical altercation had allegedly taken place.
Following the investigation, deputies arrested 32-year-old Samuel James Nehl of Fairbank.
Nehl was charged with domestic assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor.
The arrest comes amid other recent domestic-assault investigations in Northern Iowa. Earlier this month, another Northern Iowa man was accused of assaulting and strangling a woman while on probation in a separate case.
In another recent case, an alleged domestic-assault suspect was accused of returning to a victim’s home only hours after a judge ordered him to stay away.
Nehl was transported to the Fayette County Jail, where he awaited his initial court appearance.
He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
