DOUGHERTY — Two motorists were hurt Monday when their vehicles collided at an uncontrolled rural Cerro Gordo County intersection where tall corn reportedly obstructed visibility.
Cerro Gordo County sheriff’s deputies responded at approximately 11:56 a.m. on September 1, 2026, to the collision near 120th Street and Vine Avenue.
Authorities said Becky Liddle, 33, of Plainfield, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer west on 120th Street when she collided with a 2021 Ford F-250 driven by Shane Williams Sr., 52, of Hampton.
The vehicles collided inside the uncontrolled intersection. Investigators said tall corn played a role in limiting visibility. Airbags deployed in one of the vehicles.
Liddle was transported from the scene by Mason City Fire Department paramedics with suspected major injuries. Authorities described her injuries as not life-threatening.
Williams was treated at the scene by Rockwell emergency personnel but declined transportation to a hospital.
The same intersection was the scene of another two-vehicle injury crash in August 2018.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office investigated Monday’s collision. The Rockwell Fire Department, Mason City Fire Department and Lake Towing assisted at the scene.
No citations were announced in the sheriff’s office’s initial report.
