Greene woman hurt in two-car crash in rural Cerro Gordo county

RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A Greene woman was hurt in two-car crash Monday in rural Cerro Gordo county.

On August 27, 2018 at approximately 4:51 PM, Cerro Gordo county deputies were dispatched to 120th and Vine Avenue for a two-vehicle accident with injuries. The first vehicle was traveling eastbound on 120th St. driven by Trey Pfeffer, age 17 of Dougherty, Iowa. The second vehicle was traveling southbound on Vine Avenue driven by Mary Steere, age 54 of Greene, Iowa. Both vehicles entered the uncontrolled intersection at the same time colliding were both vehicles entered the southeast ditch. Steere was trapped for a short time until fire was able to extricate her. Pfeffer was uninjured and Steere was transported to Mercy ER by Mason City Fire with unknown extent of injuries.

The investigation continues.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Mason City Fire, Dougherty Fire/EMT’s and Rockwell Fire/EMT’s.
