FAYETTE COUNTY — Two Northern Iowa motorists were injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning at a rural Fayette County intersection.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called at approximately 9:06 a.m. on July 2, 2026, to the intersection of 160th Street and S Avenue.
Investigators determined that Peter Tweed, 75, of Ossian, was traveling west on 160th Street while Kerry Richards, 54, of Sumner, was traveling north on S Avenue when their vehicles collided.
Both drivers suffered injuries and were transported to a hospital in Sumner for treatment. Authorities did not release additional information about the severity of their injuries.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Hawkeye First Responders, the Hawkeye Fire Department and Tieskoetter Collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
