
The Webster City Fire Department said firefighters were called at approximately 6:48 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, for a report of a fire at a building at Van Diest Supply Company.
Engine 33 initially responded to the call, with Ladder 31, Rescue 35 and Truck 30 assisting.
When firefighters arrived, Engine 33 found smoke showing from the bay door of one of the buildings on the south side of the complex. Crews put a fire attack line into service and located the seat of the fire inside the building.
The fire was extinguished.
Webster City Fire Chief Chuck Stansfield said all Van Diest Supply Company personnel were present and accounted for.
Seven firefighters were sent to Van Diest Medical Center for observation and treatment of minor injuries sustained during the operation. All seven were later released in good condition.
The Webster City Fire Department was assisted by Van Diest Medical Center, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Webster City Police Department, Stratford EMS, Kamrar EMS, Stratford Fire, Duncombe Fire and Region V Hazmat.
The area was cleared and all units were released.
No further details about the cause of the fire or the extent of damage were immediately released.
