Robert “Bob” Leroy Lewis was born 3-20-1943 in Spencer, Iowa to Rose Marie Yeager. Bob grew up in Spencer and attended Spencer Public Schools where he played football, graduating in 1961. Bob lived and worked on the family farm while hitting golf balls into the fields and hunting pheasants and ducks.

On May 29, 1961 Bob married the love of his life, Judy Liester in Cherokee, IA. They lived in Spencer, Iowa where Bob was a mechanic, and a collection specialist. In 1962 Julie Kay was born followed by Daniel French in 1964. In 1965 Bob and Judy relocated to Council Bluffs Iowa where Bob continued his collection specialist position and then worked in a factory. Monica Marie was born in 1966 and shortly after the family moved back to Spencer where Bradley Dean was born in 1968.

Bob was a milkman and owned a cleaning company before his lifetime sales carrier in the grocery business. He loved meeting new people and was great at building lasting relationships, many of which turned into great friendships.

During his time in Spencer, he was a member of Jaycee’s, a longtime Spencer Volunteer Fireman, a youth baseball coach for 20+ years, coaching both of his boys.

Bob and Judy retired in 2004 and spent their retirement years camping while traveling the country, spending winters in Arizona meeting many lifetime friends. Bob and Judy always made time for family to travel between their children’s towns to attend their Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren school programs, sports and other events. They played card games, Texas Hold-em, Shuffleboard and board games. They also enjoyed the outdoors and fishing together. Bob loved playing golf at customer events and with his children and grandchildren. He was a hell of a golfer and played late into life. He was also a great storyteller as we all know. His grandchildren and great grandchildren always enjoyed Grandpa’s duck and Yogi Bear voices.
