Charlene “Sharkie” Sue (Moser) Strain, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City at the age of 85.
A memorial service will be held 1:00pm Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapels, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401. She will be laid to rest along with her late husband, Larry Strain at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Charlene, the daughter of Carl B. and Sara J. (Beaver) Moser, was born in Wright County, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1958.
Sharkie was united in marriage to Larry A. Strain on January 18, 1964. They had a son, Steven Allen Strain born in1968. They made their home in Mason City, Iowa.
Char was a long time employee of N.W. Bell. She loved to play cards, have coffee with her coworkers and was a member of the Pioneer Club. Char was a great baker and enjoyed sharing with relatives and friends. She also loved dogs and would often babysit her neighbor’s little dog “Mila”.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Steven (Lucy Davis) Strain of Fallon, Nevada; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Sandi) Baldus of Alleman, Iowa and Joe (Kayleen) Chamberlain of Eagle Grove, Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Larry; parents, Carl and Sara Moser, her in-laws, Allen and Phyllis Strain; brothers, Dean and Larry Moser; sisters-in-law, Pat and Faye Moser; brother and sister-in-law, Chuck (Peggy) Lackore; and brother-in-law, Scott Strain.
