MASON CITY – Afternoon rage possibly consumed a woman Saturday, as she allegedly decided to make an appearance in downtown Mason City, wield a baseball bat, and perform a Babe Ruth impersonation upon innocent parked cars, allegedly smashing side mirrors and windshields, before cops arrived en masse. However, the hijinks and potential danger had only just begun.

Mason City police were alerted on Saturday afternoon, April 26, 2025, to the 100 block of North Delaware Avenue.  Police raced to the scene with lights and sirens at 2:24 PM after they received the report of a woman damaging vehicles, parked cars.  Officers arrived to find 22-year-old Allison Elizabeth Annamarlyse Buhler at the scene.  Police tell NIT that she was “in a vehicle, allegedly trying to back up and leave the scene. Police cars blocked her escape. She allegedly then soon exited the vehicle on foot and approached one of the officers. She apparently left the car in gear. The vehicle rolled back into one of the squad cars parked behind her.”

After an investigation, Buhler was charged with:

– Felony D second-degree criminal mischief

– No insurance

– Fail to maintain control

– Fail to yield to emergency vehicle

According to police, “it does not appear that Buhler knows any of the vehicle owners of the vandalized cars. We are awaiting damage estimates from all the vehicle owners. Depending on the final tally, the charge may be amended up or down. Several windshields and side windows were allegedly broken out with a baseball bat. Car body damage and interior damage is unknown at this point.”

Buhler was taken to the Cerro Gordo county jail and booked in at 4 PM Saturday, April 26, and remains held there. Police say she has no real home address, “homeless / unhoused right now, but she does stay in Mason City downtown area.”

Records show Buhler (pictured at top) was getting in trouble down in Boone, Iowa, for various crimes beginning in 2022, including trespassing, criminal mischief, domestic abuse, probation violation, possession of contraband in jail, assault on police, and more, until she was sentenced to serve in a residential facility, suspected to be Mason City’s Beje Clark halfway house. Then, Buhler started getting in trouble here, beginning with reckless driving last October in Mason City and now the incident downtown this weekend.
