Patricia Jo Smith, 68, of Urbana, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Woodley Funeral Home in Greene. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pat will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene. Woodley Funeral Home of Greene is caring for Pat and her family.

Pat was born April 5, 1956, the daughter of Orville and Marlys (Stille) Nitcher. She graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School, class of 1974. Pat then furthered her education at La James College – Beauty School in Cedar Falls. On September 28, 1996, she was united in marriage to Scott Smith at the Waterloo Church of Christ.

Pat worked as a CNA and then worked alongside her mother as co-owner and operator of The New Outlook Salon. Pat also worked various other jobs: Bookkeeper for a salvage company, for Birch Cabinets in Jesup, clerking for Dollar General and at a box company until her husband required home care.

Pat was a faithful Sunday School teacher at the Waterloo Church of Christ, now Rivers Edge Church of Christ. Most recently, she was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Waterloo. A highlight was vacationing and camping at Agency Bay Lodge in Walker, Minnesota, with her husband and daughter, Libby, who had Cerebral Palsy. Pat was a fierce advocate for Libby. One of her proudest moments was when Libby graduated from high school and held volunteer jobs. Pat loved animals; especially caring for horses, rabbits, birds and dogs. She enjoyed baking and made the best cookies and cakes.

Pat is survived by her husband Scott Smith; mother Marlys Nitcher; brothers: Travis (Denise) Nitcher, Craig (Jan) Nitcher and Glen (Tanya) Nitcher; nephews: Brandon Nitcher, Luke Nitcher and Benjamin Nitcher; nieces: Rebecca Pekkarinen and Sky Nitcher; great nephew Walter Pekkarinen; great niece Maddie Pekkarinen. She’s also survived by her brothers- and sisters-in-law: Christine Baker, Melinda Smith, Becky (Jerry) Shultz, Cathy (Jerome) Marzen and David Smith; adopted grandsons: Bryan Pittman and Christopher Pittman; adopted granddaughter Kathleen Pittman; along with 12 adopted great-grandchildren and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Elizabeth “Libby” Smith, father Orville Nitcher, several aunts and uncles, and adopted grandson Michael Pittman.
