CHARLES CITY – A Charles City woman with a decorated history of drunk driving was nabbed tooling around town after 3 AM with a frosty beverage, allegedly under the influence, and now the stakes are much higher.
The Charles City police department says their officers conducted a traffic stop at 3:14 AM on December 31, 2024. At the intersection of 9th Avenue and D Street, a vehicle was pulled over and an investigation was undertaken. The driver was identified as 23-year-old Dezeray Marie Starbuck of Charles City, who previously had a little trouble at Southbridge Mall in Mason City in years past. Cops allegedly spotted an open container of alcohol with Starbuck. As a result, Starbuck was arrested on the following charges:
– OPERATING WHILE INTOXICATED (3RD OFFENSE) (FELONY)
– DRIVING WHILE BARRED
– DRIVING WHILE REVOKED
– FAILURE TO PROVE SECURITY AGAINST LIABILITY
– OPEN CONTAINER
– REGISTRATION VIOLATION
Starbuck was taken to the Floyd county jail and was released on her own recognizance. She awaits a hearing on January 20.
Starbuck was nabbed by the Iowa State Patrol in 2020 in Cerro Gordo county for drunk driving and again by the Iowa State Patrol in Bremer county in 2023. She was guilty in both cases and it cost her $3,985.12 and $2,521.25, respectively, and these debts are not fully paid off.
Additionally, records show, Starbuck was arrested by the Floyd county sheriff’s office on October 23, 2023, for drunk driving. She was later found guilty and it cost her $2,256.25. She owes the entire amount. She had to go to jail along with other penalties.
Not be be done, the Charles City police department arrested Starbuck on January 28, 2024, at 1:55 AM for drunk driving, driving while revoked and no insurance in the 400 block of Gilbert Street. She was later found guilty and it cost her $3,018.95. She owes the entire amount. She had to go to jail along with other penalties.
