WAVERLY – A proud dive bar in this Northern Iowa college town was burglarized and cops say they have their suspect.

On January 2, 2025 at approximately 8:17 AM, the Waverly Police Department responded to 110 East Bremer Avenue. This is the location of the Beach House, a sports pub near downtown Waverly that bills itself as “Waverly’s 5 Star Dive Bar”. Police arrived and investigated an alleged burglary. Upon further investigation, on January 3, 2025, 45-year-old Jerry Shawn Hoge of Waverly, Iowa, was arrested for 3rd Degree Burglary (Class D Felony).

Hoge was transported to the Bremer County Jail where he was booked and held to see the duty magistrate. He soon bonded out, records show, as he awaits future court proceedings.

The Waverly Police Department further claims that they have executed several search warrants and additional charges are pending.
