Opal Diedrich, 99, of Grafton, IA, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, IA. Per her wishes, a private memorial service will be held.

Opal Diedrich, 99, of Grafton, IA, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, IA.

Per her wishes, a private memorial service will be held.

Opal was born October 6, 1924; daughter of Henry and Cynthia (Youmans) Urbatch. She grew up on a farm northeast of Manly and attended country school. Opal went on to graduate from Kensett High School with the class of 1942. She was united in marriage to Rueben Raese Diedrich June 20, 1943 in Manly. To this union they were blessed with three children.

Opal was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton. She was a devoted wife and mother; always making sure everyone was taken care of. She enjoyed living in the country gardening, canning and was an excellent cook.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Larry (Janet Jorgenson) Diedrich, Carol (Byron) Hoyt; and Brian Diedrich; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Rueben; parents; two brothers; and one sister.
