CEDAR FALLS – UNI quarterback Theo Day has earned national recognition following his week four performance, earning College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS National Performer of the Week honorable mention recognition, as announced on Sunday morning.
Day, (pictured above via unipanthers.com) a redshirt senior out of Canton, Michigan, threw for 337 yards on 21 completions with four passing touchdowns in UNI’s 44-41 win over No. 19 Youngstown State on Saturday. He also scored one rushing touchdown as the Panthers secured their first top-25 win of the year to open Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) play.
This is the third time Day has been recognized in-season by the CFPA, after being named its FCS National Performer of the Week twice during the 2022 season (Oct. 30, Nov. 20). Day was also named to the 2022 CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year midseason watch list.
Idaho running back Anthony Woods was named the winner of this week’s honor, while Day joined Maine quarterback Derek Robertson and Western Carolina running back Desmond Reid in earning honorable mention honors.
Day and the Panthers return to action next Saturday, Oct. 7 as UNI visits Indiana State in Terre Haute. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
