Randy was born on September 22, 1952 in Buffalo Center, Iowa, the son of Russell and Lola (Hammond) Krominga of Titonka, Iowa. Randy and his brothers graduated from Titonka High School and helped with their parents business, the Titonka Locker. Randy later moved to Mason City with some school friends where they shared a house. He met Sharon Osier, Greene, Iowa and they were united in marriage on July 12, 1974 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greene, Iowa. Together they became parents of two daughters and one son and later divorced. Later he met Wanda Thompson and they spent 22 happy years together. Randy worked numerous jobs over the years but his favorite job was being a dad and grandpa.

Randy loved to collect things, including hot wheels, coins and anything to do with what he loved like the Beatles, NASCAR, Iowa Hawkeyes, Dallas Cowboys and Country Westerns. He also had a special talent for taming stray cats, at one time he had five of them living with him. He was known as the “cat whisperer” by family members. Randy had a wonderful smile and great sense of humor, he liked to joke with his nurses and they could give it right back which he loved.

Left behind with holes in our hearts are his beloved cat Smokey, his longtime girlfriend/partner, Wanda Thompson; ex wife, Sharon Krominga; children, Angela (Eric) Lukes, Joshua Krominga, and Tamara (Tyler) Richardson; grandchildren, Dylan, Owen and Jenna Lukes, Jacob and Caitlynn Krominga all of Mason City, Iowa; brothers, Harlan (Lelah) Krominga of Rockford, Illinois, and Kim Krominga of Mason City, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and granddaughter, Emma Marie Lukes; and Sharon’s parents, Donald and Geraldine Osier.
