RURAL MITCHELL COUNTY – An older driver of a Silverado pickup truck allegedly failed to yield at an intersection and collided with a Silverado pickup driven by a Northern Iowa woman in Mitchell county Friday evening, taking her life.

According to the Iowa State patrol, the accident took place on Friday, September 22, 2023. At about 5:10 PM that evening, a 2004 Chevy Silverado pickup driven 83-year-old Albert May of Stacyville, Iowa, was traveling northbound on Ocean Avenue in Mitchell county and approached the intersection of 480th Street. He failed to yield the right of way, the Patrol says, and struck a 2012 Chevy Silverado pickup truck on the driver’s side. The driver was 33-year-old Danielle Funte of Stacyville, Iowa, and she was not wearing a seatbelt, the patrol reports.

As a result of the collision, Funte succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Both Silverados were removed from the scene by Osage Towing.
