Virginia (Patton) Lovik, 85, of Floyd, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023.

A funeral service for Virginia will be held 11:00am, Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Floyd Grace United Methodist Church with Dave Hill and Rhonda Higby officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Floyd.

Visitation will be prior to service at Floyd Grace United Methodist Church from 9:00 to 11:00am, September 16.

Virginia, the daughter of Floyd and Grace (Wilcox) Patton, was born September 14, 1937, on a farm near Chester, Iowa. She was married to late husband, Wayne for 62 years. Until the end, they expressed their love for each other. Throughout her life, family gatherings and holidays were very important. She shared many stories of growing up, riding in a buggy to attend school in a one-room schoolhouse. A big outing was going to the movies in McIntire.

She had a daycare in her home and worked as an associate at the Charles City School system. She enjoyed helping out at the church.

Favorite times were camping in Aitkin, Minnesota, participating at Devonia Flea markets, and rock hunting on trips to South Dakota. She enjoyed her garden, flowers, watching the birds and squirrels, feeding the neighborhood cats, and going for walks.

In her later years, Alzheimer’s had an impact on her life. Even with the disease, she still wanted to protect the children and loved watching them play. Although Alzheimer’s is a tragic disease, cancer is what took her life.

Living family members include her children: Karen (James “Jamie”) Farrell, Lavonne (Wayne) Guenther, Cheryl Ruzich, Brenda (Randall “Petey”) Carter; Six Grandchildren: Dawn (Jared) Roberts, Denise (Rusty) Hagarty, Sean Farrell, Erik Farrell, Alicia (Carter) Kellogg, Amber (Zade) McCall. Ten Great Grandchildren: Marley, McCrae, Mekyver, Meric, Cael, Kelyn, Flynn, Harlan, Karter, and Kayzlea. She also has two living sisters, Joyce and Shirley, and special brother- in-law, Harley Lovik.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne; parents, Floyd and Grace (Wilcox) Patton; son-in-law, Joe Ruzich; sister Norma Spencer and brother Bob Patton. Plus, other special family members and close friends.
