Man shot dead in Waterloo as police hunt suspect

WATERLOO - A man was shot dead in Waterloo this weekend, and police are hunting a suspect still on the loose.

WATERLOO – A man was shot dead in Waterloo this weekend, and police are hunting a suspect still on the loose.

On Saturday September 2, 2023, at approximately 12:51 PM, consolidated dispatch received a call of a shooting in progress at E.4th Street and Mulberry. Waterloo Police and Waterloo Fire Personnel arrived on scene and found a male victim who had been shot and began performing life saving measures. The male was transported by Waterloo Fire Personnel to Allen Hospital. The male victim was later pronounced dead. The male has been identified as 45 yrs. old Muharrum Quan Johnson of Waterloo.

The Waterloo Police Department currently has charges for 32-year-old Corey Crawley (pictured, above) charging him with Murder in the 1st Degree and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The Waterloo Police Department is actively looking for Crawley and anyone with information is asked to call Black Hawk County Dispatch at 319-291-2515, the Waterloo Police Department at 319-291-4340 or Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers at 855-300-8477.

Anyone with information leading to Crawley’s whereabouts is eligible for a $1,500.00 cash reward.
