NIACC women’s wrestlers drop first-ever home dual

MASON CITY - In the first-ever NIACC women's wrestling home dual meet, No. 6 Iowa Central stopped No. 8 NIACC, 34-21.

MASON CITY – In the first-ever NIACC women’s wrestling home dual meet, No. 6 Iowa Central stopped No. 8 NIACC, 34-21.

NIACC (0-2 in duals) picked up wins from Chiara Barbieri (101), Tatiana Hernandez (109), Laken Lienhard (143) and Valerie Smith (235).

Barbieri (3-1) won by forfeit and Hernandez (5-0), Lienhard (6-3) and Smith (3-1) picked up falls.

Hernandez, who is ranked eighth, pinned 10th-ranked Diana Pineda in one minute, 51 seconds.

Lienhard, who is ranked No. 1 at 143 pounds, pinned the Tritons’ Rodiat Adeduntan in 4:47.

Smith, who is ranked fifth, stuck Hershberger, who is ranked sixth, in :25. It was the third pin by Smith over Hershberger this season.

101 – Chiara Barbieri (N) won by forfeit; 109 – Tatiana Hernandez (N) pinned Diana Pineda, 1:51; 116 – Kailyn Younger (IC) won by forfeit; 123 – Krystol Luna (IC) won by forfeit; 130 – Anna Sondall (IC) pinned Paige Baker, 1:57.

143 – Laken Lienhard (N) pinned Rodiat Adeduntan, 4:47; 155 – Maria Elizondo (IC) pinned Gabriella Segre, 4:13; 170 – Briana Araujo Batista (IC) tech. fall Ravyn Krachey, 14-4; 191 – Maranda Bell (IC) won by forfeit; 235 – Valerie Smith (N) pinned Addison Hershberger, :25.
