NIACC bows out of regional softball tournament

BOONE – The NIACC softball team bowed out of the NJCAA Region XI-A tournament on Saturday with a 19-2 five-inning loss to Iowa Central on the DMACC campus.

Iowa Central scored six runs in the second inning, seven runs in the third inning and plated six runs in the fourth inning to advance to the regional title game. The Tritons fell to top-seed DMACC 11-5 in the regional title game.

In the NIACC/Iowa Central contest, NIACC scored two runs in the third inning on a two-run home run from sophomore Hailey Worman. The home run was the eighth of the season for Worman and the 20th of her career.

The 20 home runs by Worman ranks third on the school’s all-time home run list. Worman finished her NIACC career with 98 hits, which is tied for 14th on the school’s career hit list.

NIACC’s Sydney Toman collected two hits against the Tritons.
