JUCO Track & Field: NIACC’s Chigudu sets school mark in 200

COUNCIL BLUFFS – NIACC sophomore Tinashe Chigudu set a school record in Saturday’s 200-meter dash prelims at the NJCAA Region XI championships.

Chigudu clocked a 20.86 to earn the top-qualifying time for Sunday’s finals. Chigudu broke his own school mark of 21.29, which he set on April 9, 2022 at the Mount Mercy Mustang Open.

Chigudu also qualified for the finals with the second fastest qualifying time in the 100-meter dash with a 10.43 in the prelims.

NIACC’s Randry Mugisha placed second in the javelin with a toss of 148 feet, 3 inches, which ranks fifth on the school’s career list. Mugisha was also sixth in the hammer with a toss of 118-6, which ranks fifth on the school’s all-time list.

NIACC’s Kameron Glasper placed fourth in the hammer (128-1).

NIACC’s Matt Seberson placed 10th in the long jump with a leap of 20-8, which ranks fourth on the school’s career list.

NIACC’s Daqwan Sanders qualified for Sunday’s finals in the 110 hurdles with a qualifying time of 15.82, which ranks third on the school’s all-time list.

NIACC’s Bernard Bell did not qualify for the finals in the 100 and 200, but his times in both events now rank second on the school’s all-time outdoor list. Bell ran 10.70 in the 100 prelims and clocked a 21.68 in the 200 prelims.
