OBIT: James “Jim” Jensen

James “Jim” Jensen, 79, of Charles City, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 7, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City with Pastor Russ Leeper officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home.

James Joe Jensen, the son of Ejnar “Joe” and Anna (Falkerts) Jensen, was born on July 20, 1942 in Mallard, Iowa. He graduated from Mallard High School in 1961. Jim was united in marriage to Beverly “Bev” Smith on September 22, 1964.

Jim was a welder for 40 years and retired from Terex in Waverly. He enjoyed beekeeping, watching basketball, watching football and taking mini trips to Branson and Texas were always a highlight in his life. Above everything, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Living family members include his wife of 57 years, Bev; children: Tammy (Jon) Lueth of Cedar Falls, Teresa Jensen of Mason City, Scott (Sara) Jensen of Charles City, Shannon (Tina) Jensen of Decorah, and Karla (Trey) Hicks of Luling, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 9 greatgrandchildren; sister, Phyllis Chumbley; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Samantha Vining; and siblings: Arnold Barg, Dorothy Wood, Roger Barg, Norman Barg, Gordon Barg, and Clark Jensen.
