Peggy Marie Dykes, 97, of Eldora, Iowa, passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Eldora Specialty Care with her daughter by her side.
Following Peggy’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no public services held at this time. Peggy’s family is planning on holding a celebration of her life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed in Peggy’s name to her family which will later be designated elsewhere. Peggy Marie Dodd was born on January 28, 1924, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Charles W. and Lena M. (Bacon) Dodd. She was an extremely hard-working woman in her life and dedicated her time raising her children, taking care of the family home and working on the family farm. Peggy also spent many years in the restaurant business along side her husband who owned it. She was blessed to raise her two children, Judy Mitchell and the late James Andrew Cawan.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter: Judy Mitchell of Eldora, IA; one grandson: Richard Mitchell of Manchester, CT; two granddaughters: Laura Mitchell of Coralville, IA and Melissa Arnold of Paragonah, UT.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Lena Dodd; one brother: Charles M. Dodd; one son: James Andrew Cowan; one grandson: Justin Paisley and one son-in-law: Richard Mitchell Sr.
