DAVENPORT – As “American school shooting day” already had parents, teachers, students and police jittery from possible violence on Friday due to this evil online phenomena, a threatening Facebook post that day led to a school lockdown and arrest of an Iowa man.
On Friday, December 17, 2021, at approximately 11:35 AM, Davenport Central High School was placed on lockdown to investigate a threat directed at the school posted on Facebook. The lockdown was lifted at 11:46 AM after School Resource Officers and school staff determined there was no immediate threat to students and staff. Upon investigation, Davenport Police identified the origin of the Facebook post and as result, Leon LeQuan Simpson III, 20 years-old, of Davenport, was arrested and charged with Harassment 1st Degree. Simpson was transported to the Scott County Jail without incident. He quickly bonded out, records show.
