OBIT: Lisa Tumilson

Lisa Tumilson, 58, of Mason City, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.

A funeral service for Lisa will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City. Burial will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Visitation will be at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2021 and will continue one hour before the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Lisa Kay (Stickney) Tumilson, the daughter of Jess and Joanne (Young) Stickney, was born July 26, 1963 in Mason City, Iowa. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1981 and furthered her education by earning her certification as a Nurse’s Aide. Lisa worked in this field for a little over eight years.

Lisa was married to Scott LaRue and this union was blessed with a son, Levi. The couple later divorced. Lisa was united in marriage to Kevin Tumilson on September 23, 1995 at Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford. They were blessed with their son, Tyler. The couple lived in Nora Springs for 25 years before moving to Mason City in 2019.

Lisa was an Assistant Manager at Casey’s for a few years, worked in housekeeping at MercyOne Medical Center in Mason City for 11 years and then decided that staying at home and helping care for her family was the most important thing she could do. She was a very free spirit who wasn’t afraid to share her opinion on many subjects. Lisa enjoyed shopping anywhere and everywhere, spending time with her family, but loved time spent with her rescued four-legged children the most. She and Kevin have rescued five dogs over the years with two of them still with the family, Lola and Niko.

Living family members include her husband, Kevin of Mason City; two sons: Levi LaRue of Oxnard, California and Tyler Tumilson of Mason City; mother and step-father, Jo (Roger) Nuehring of Hampton; sister, Patty (Jim) Crider of Virginia; her beloved dogs, Lola and Niko; along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews. other family members and friends.

Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Jess Stickney; two brothers: Michael Stickney and Gerald Duane Stickney; and two sisters: Sandra Jo (Stickney) Boyd and Cheryl Stickney (in infancy).
