Northern Iowa couple arrested after cops find drugs when responding to beating

LYTTON, IOWA – A Northern Iowa couple was arrested after cops found drugs when responding to a beating at their residence.

The Sac County Sheriff’s Office responded to 530 6th Street, Lytton, Iowa on Monday morning November 1, 2021, just before 7:30 AM. The nature of the call was a domestic dispute in progress with a knife being displayed. Sac City Police also responded to this call.

Two persons were identified at the locations. 54-year-old Brian Dain Edmonds and 51-year-old Melissa Stoll. Both live in the apartment together. Stoll alleged that Edmonds struck her on the top of the head and then displayed a green handled knife and threatened to kill her. During the investigation, a green handled knife was found in a trash can in the bedroom. Evidence of drug use was seen by responding officers. A consent search was conducted. During the search, law enforcement seized three small bags of marijuana, devices used to smoke marijuana and evidence of methamphetamine use.

Edmonds and Stoll were both arrested. Edmonds is charged with domestic abuse assault displaying a dangerous weapon, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He is being held in the Sac County Jail on no-bond. Stoll was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She is being held on $1,300.00 bond.
