Following his return from the military Darrel moved to Mason City and began working for Armour in Britt, where he was employed for many years until the plant’s closing, at which time he transferred to the Mason City location. His final job was at HyVee which he always said was his favorite job and the most fun!

He and Barb were very involved in Sunday worship service and Darrel always began and ended the day with prayer and reading from his Bible. He was always adding family and friends and others in need to his prayer list.

Darrel loved classic cars and collecting Coca Cola memorabilia. He and Barb enjoyed daily visits to the Seawall in Clear Lake which always seemed to bring Darrel peace and comfort.
