MASON CITY – Police have released the identity of the young lady found deceased in a Mason City home after a fire.
On Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 5:06 a.m., the Mason City Fire and Police Departments responded to report of a house fire at 123 N Tennessee Avenue. Once firefighters were able to enter and search the home, they found a person deceased inside the residence.
The Mason City Police Department, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the State Fire Marshal have been working to confirm the identity in this case.
Based on the investigation, the deceased has been identified as Tonette Wolfe, age 24, of Mason City, pending DNA confirmation. The investigation into the fire and Wolfe’s death are ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident should contact the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.
