MASON CITY – A person was found dead after a house fire in Mason City.
On Tuesday, September 7, 2021 shortly after 5:00 a.m., the Mason City Fire and Police Departments responded to a report of a house on fire in the 100 block of North Tennessee Avenue.
Once firefighters were able to enter and search the home they found a deceased person.
An autopsy is being conducted at the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner to identify the deceased and determine the cause and manner of death.
Assisting in the investigation is the Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigation and State Fire Marshal.
