FORT DODGE – A domestic disturbance in Fort Dodge led to a police response to a home, where a man was found dead laying in the grass outside.

On Thursday, January 2 at approximately 10:20 P.M., the Webster County Communications Center received a call regarding a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of Ave D in Fort Dodge. Information given during the call indicated that a male and female were possibly involved in a physical assault. Officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department responded and met with a female who had left the residence but stayed in the area to speak with officers when they arrived.

While officers were speaking with the female, other officers arriving at the residence located an unresponsive male in a grassy area outside of 116 Avenue D. Officers began medical treatment but the male was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene. As Investigators and Patrol Officers continued their investigation, it was determined that the male had likely been ran over by a vehicle. Based on the circumstances, a Traffic Investigator with the Iowa State Patrol was called in to assist in documenting the scene.

At this time we are working to determine the exact circumstances that led to the male’s death, to include exploring all avenues as to how this incident unfolded. At this time no charges have been filed in connection to this case. The victim’s name will not be released at this time until we are certain all next of kin has been properly notified. Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department.

The Fort Dodge Police Department was assisted on scene by the Fort Dodge Fire Department, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa State Patrol.
