WATERLOO – An armed man barricaded himself in a Waterloo house and was later discovered deceased.

On Thursday, September 12, 2019 at approximately 1:26 PM, Waterloo Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of Hilltop Road, Waterloo. The initial call indicated that an adult male in the residence was armed and acting in a threatening manner. One person was able to leave the residence, leaving the armed male and a teenage male inside. As Officers arrived and established communication, they were able to get the teenage male out without incident. Officers established communication and attempted to convince this male to exit but he did not comply. The male eventually stopped all communication. After all manners of communication were exhausted, Waterloo Police entered the residence and found the male occupant deceased from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The name and address are not being released at this time.

This incident remains under investigation.
