Carol Mrachek-Sawyer, 75, of Burnsville, Minnesota, formerly Charles City, Iowa, died peacefully in her sleep on July 7, 2019 with family by her side following a brief illness. Carol was a longtime resident of Burnsville and resident of Augustana Regent at the time of her passing.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 South Main Street, in Charles City, Iowa after which interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Carol Ann (Cable) Mrachek-Sawyer, daughter of Carl and Catherine (Evans) Cable was born on November 6, 1943 in Elma, Iowa and attended school in Cresco, Iowa during her formative years. She was united in marriage to Larry Mrachek on August 2, 1969. Carol was blessed with a daughter, Sunday Mrachek, a mere few weeks after Larry was killed in a tragic factory accident in January of 1972.   Carol met Gary Sawyer later that year and forever became “Mom” to his four children: John, Kelly, Gene and Kenneth and the two families became inextricably combined. Carol and Gary were married in 1990 and enjoyed 28 adventurous years together, many of which were spent motorcycling around the country on her “chopper”.  She worked for many years at Abdallah Candies and Sally’s Beauty Supply in Burnsville, Minnesota. She enjoyed antiquing, gardening, decorating and always had a festive house during the holidays.

Carol is survived by her children and their spouses: Sunday (and Nathan) Tostenson of Elko New Market, Minnesota, John (and Julie) Sawyer of Indian Springs, Nevada, Kelly (and Matthew) Francis of Kansas City, Kansas, Gene (and Colleen) Sawyer of Las Vegas, Nevada and Kenneth (and Jasmine) Sawyer of Newport, New Hampshire. She was blessed with 14 granddaughters, one grandson and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, George (Claudia) Cable of Cedar Falls, Iowa and a sister, Mary Holub of Waterloo, Iowa; and by many other relatives and friends. Her passing is preceded by her parents, Carl and Catherine Cable, and her husbands’ Larry Mrachek and Gary Sawyer.

    well i didnt know the woman. id say any of us we be damn lucky to age that gracefully. i dont know what it is around here but we got alot of 50 year old looking 30 year olds.
