Two avoid injury after alleged distracted driving causes vehicle rollover accident outside Mason City

 

RURAL MASON CITY – An alleged distracted driver and his passenger avoided injury after a vehicle rollover accident outside Mason City late Saturday night.

According to the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a single vehicle rollover at 230th Street and Mallard Avenue just shortly after 10 pm on August 25th, 2018. A 2000 maroon Chevrolet Malibu being driven by 41 year old Vince Leroy Ankrum of Sheffield, Iowa and his passenger 46 year old Sheena Marie Bailey were traveling southbound on Mallard Avenue and upon making the westbound turn onto 230th Street the male driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled into the ditch. No injuries were reported at the time of the accident.

Vince Ankrum was cited for failure to maintain control.

The sheriff’s affiance says the cause of the accident was due to distracted driving.
