CHARLES CITY – A Charles City woman apparently got feisty with police as she was stopped and investigated for drunk driving.
The incident took place at 12:34 AM on Sunday, January 21. A Charles City police officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of North Grand Avenue and Hulin Street. After an investigation and other actions, 19-year-old Cassandra Martinez of Charles City was arrested on charges of first-offense operating while intoxicated, driving on the wrong side of the road, assault on a peace officer, fifth-degree criminal mischief, interference with official acts, leaving the scene of an accident, speeding, possession of alcohol under the age of 21 and no valid driver’s license.
Martinez was taken to jail and soon released, pending a court appearance set for February 14.
