PLYMOUTH – Emergency responders were sent to a vehicle rollover near Plymouth Sunday, but reportedly, the driver fled the scene.

According to information relayed to NIT, the accident took place around 8:30 PM Sunday night. A one-vehicle roll over accident was called in; it was said there was smoke seen coming from the vehicle. A number of emergency crews, including Air Med from Mercy Medical Hospital, were dispatched to an area just north of Plymouth on or near 340th Street.

However, Air Med was soon cancelled when emergency crews reported that the driver had fled the vehicle.

A neighbor said that they heard a loud “thud” and went to see what happened. “It looked very bad,” she said, not knowing that the driver had left.

There was no further information immediately available.

Would be nice if the true story was told as the neighbor knew that the driver had fled as they helped him get out

You have no idea what the procedures are…keep your comments to yourself.

DITTO!!!

Seriously that close to mercy it would take longer for air landing at site, securing, stabilizing, take off, air transport, landing
At mercy, securing and rolling patient into the ER bay… then use of ambulance service… but Mercy would secure a bigger payoff using air service… almighty buck always outways … any car accident almost always guarantees payment from auto ins.

maybe you have too many answers /excuses

A friend of mine was flown to Iowa City and the cost were $55,000.00

That’s cheap. My fathers heli transport from Mercy to Iowa City was $74,000 … air med bill. Mercy ER billed their part separately.

Why would they fire it up before knowing they need it? What if driver I injured? Unnecessary costs and putting folks at risk. An ambulance can get to Mercy plenty fast. What if the driver was fine and walked home? What if he called someone to pick him up? That’s not fleeing the scene. If your car goes into a ditch, you are not required to wait for anybody. Maybe they were cold and wanted to get home. Maybe someone was following them.

About 15 years ago my Brother-in-law ditched his pickup when he feel asleep at the wheel. Walked home and went to sleep and was going to get his pick up the next day during daylight.

Friend of his parents called his mom and dad when they heard about an accident on the scanner and the missing driver’s name and type of vehicle that they recognized and the sheriff’s office was doing a road ditch search mile by mile looking for him as they couldn’t find the him and thought he may be injured and suffering from shock or a concussion and needed help.

Called law enforcement after he was contacted and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and did a breathalyzer which he passed.

But how do you know who was driving?

Who was the driver?

I was told $7,000

I wonder how much it costs to fire up Air med only to be canceled mid-air. The driver should be also charged with that too.
