Mason City council to consider development agreement with G8 Development next week

MASON CITY – The Mason City council will meet next week and consider a resolution to enter into a development agreement for a hotel with G8 Development.

The Mason City council will meet one more time this year, on December 28, 2017 at 7 PM at the Mason City library. First, a public hearing will be held on the proposal to enter into a Purchase, Sale and Development Agreement with G8 Development, Inc., which includes the potential sale of the City’s interest in real property.

Next, the council will consider a resolution making final determination on potential sale of interest in real property and approving and authorizing execution of a Purchase, Sale and Development Agreement by and between the City of Mason City and G8 Development, Inc.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chodur’s G8 Development issued a statement Wednesday:

“Philip Chodur of G8 Development would like to clear up any misunderstandings regarding the location of our Courtyard by Marriott Hotel.”

A rendering of the location of the hotel was attached:

forced to support G8 Development
– but what has Willy Pickle
got up his sleeve for 2018?

Just last week, a desperate posse of wine-drinkers from Mason City trekked to the Capital City of Des Moines to lobby state officials for taxpayer dollars in connection to the Renaissance Project. The horde of cash-grabbers is eager to once again inject millions of dollars into a floundering downtown choked-off by a crumbling mall, confusing one-way streets and rampant drug-dealing. Their aim is to stave off catastrophe for a few struggling, rich retailers and prop-up other award-winning Chamber members who can’t survive without more help from the public. NIT is told the win-at-all-costs “YES” gang is still divided between G8 Development and David Rachie’s Gatehouse LLC – which some call a “paper tiger” with no financial wherewithal to build anything. The current mayor and city council may be trying to entrench G8 into the Renaissance Project before this new crew of elected officials – some of which have a dubious track record of failure in business and past city projects – can, alarmingly, yet again jettison G8 and bring Rachie back to town.  This in-fighting may not be going unnoticed by state economic development officials, as they sent the welfare mob packing back up north to try and get the project worked out with a development agreement and financing from G8 before they would agree to a handout.  The out-going mayor and council will try to snare the former point Tuesday night, but the latter is not yet known to be close.  Disturbingly, NIT has further learned that other high-ranking state economic development officials may be being bombarded by shunned Gatehouse supporters still stung by defeat weeks ago when Eric Bookmeyer humiliated Bill Schickel, brought him to his knees and made him do something he didn’t want to do – beg for a private meeting and then vote to oust Gatehouse from the Renaissance project and support G8.  The shame and indignity of this public pie-in-the-face, NIT has learned, has galvanized Schickel to plot a possible plan for revenge.  Stay tuned for potential shocking new developments in this years-long fairy tale soap opera as elected officials continue to bungle their way to a conclusion even as they hemorrhage precious city dollars on a monthly basis into the abyss.

This is humorous.
The mall location was the beginning of the end for the downtown.
Whose idea was it to put it in such a strange place, effectively blocking the main street?
I wasn’t in the area at the time the placement was made.

They had best settle their legal problem before going any further. I can’t see the state buying into this until it is settled.

Bill you know deep in your gut that this project is never ever going to turn a shovel full a dirt. As for boozemeyer that guy has f**ked the people of Mason City so long I’d be afraid to set foot in the bars he love to shoot his fat ass mouth at. Take it in the shorts Bill and tell us “SA SA sorry folks we bafooned all of you”

Snakes don’t have guts.
