MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was allegedly speeding and intoxicated when she plowed into a truck Friday morning.
Mason City police were dispatched to a collision on Friday morning, November 3 at about 4:52 AM at 19th Street and South Federal Avenue. Erin Thompson, age 29 of Mason City, was driving her vehicle and it sustained $4,000 damage. Michael Hansen, Rockwell, was driving a truck owned by Contract Transport, Des Moines, and it sustained $2,000 damage. There were no injuries, police say.
As a result of the crash, Erin Thompson was arrested for operating while under the influence and speeding. She was jailed briefly and then released, pending a court date.
This possible drunk driving accident was the second of the day within just a few blocks; the first occurred a few hours later at the 1000 block of South Federal Avenue.
