MASON CITY – A great send-off for the Mason City High School baseball team was held Tuesday night at their home ball field.
The Mason City Mohawks (#7 seed, 26-17) are in the state tournament for the 12th time and first since 2011 and are prepared to face West Des Moines Dowling (#2 seed, 34-8 record) Wednesday night, July 26 at 7:30 PM at Principal Park.
To send the team off right and show community support, the Mason City baseball coaches and team held a community pep assembly at Roosevelt Field on Tuesday, July 25th at 7:15 PM. The team signed autographs and boosters sold State Baseball T-Shirts.
According to the Mason City School District, to was a “great evening for the Mohawk Baseball State Kick Off Community Pep Rally. Tim Fleming MC’d the event, Coach (Troy) Rood & Superintendent Versteeg shared some words of inspiration. The players signed autographs. It was a great way to celebrate a great season and to support our Mohawks as they prepare for state tournament action tonight at Principal Park against Dowling at 7:30 p.m.”
Tonight’s winner faces the winner of Iowa City, West (31-8 record) and Cedar Rapids, Washington (24-15 record) on July 28.
