Iowa motorcyclists hurt during rally when their bikes collided

STANLEY, IOWA – Three motorcycle riders were hospitalized after their bikes collided during a motorcycle rally near a small Northern Iowa town.

On July 15, 2017 at 1:06 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a three vehicle accident on Highway 3 and J Avenue by Stanley, Iowa. Once deputies arrived, they discovered that during a motorcycle rally traveling through the county three motorcycles struck each other and crashed to the ground. Mercy Oelwein Ambulance transported the victims to Oelwein Hospital while one driver was air lifted to UI Hospitals in Iowa City and is listed in serious condition. The Fayette County Sheriff’s office had their Traffic investigation Team on the scene at this time to investigate the accident.

The driver of serious injury was Mitchel Lee Tyler, age 67 of Waterloo. He remains in serious condition at the UI Hospitals.

The other driver of a motorcycle was Jerry Lee McNamee, age 63 of Waterloo and he sustained minor injuries and was released.

The third driver of a motorcycle was Brian Wade Sampson, 56 of Waterloo and he had no injuries.

This accident is still under investigation.
