Man wanted since 2015 finally caught and brought to face justice

MASON CITY – A man wanted in Cerro Gordo county since September of 2015 was finally caught and brought to Cerro Gordo county to face justice.

Wayne Martell Davis, age 26, had been wanted in Cerro GOrdo county since September of 2015 on charges of driving while barred and interference with official acts. The charges stem from an incident on June 21, 2015, when a Mason City police officer stopped a vehicle driven by Davis for an improper brake light at the 000 block of North Monroe that evening. Davis fled the scene on foot, and officers and deputies from the Cerro Gordo sheriff’s office were called in to search. Davis was eventually caught and arrested on charges of driving while barred and interference with official acts.

Court records show that authorities lost track of him, leading to the arrest warrant. Finally, Davis was recently caught in Chickasaw county and served the warrant, leading to his transport to the Cerro Gordo county jail. He awaits a court date, now.

Davis also faces felony forgery and a drug charge in Chickasaw county after he was arrested on March 28 there.

Back in 2014, Davis was charged in Winnebago county with a felony marijuana crime, but later accepted a plea deal to a lesser charge of possession of marijuana. He was sentenced to 7 days in jail and ordered to pay $675.25 in fines and court fees, which ballooned to $1,336.00.
