AMES, IOWA – A man was struck and killed by a train Friday afternoon in Ames.
At approximately 12:10 PM on January 13, 2017, the Ames Police Department received a call from the Union Pacific Railroad. They reported that they believed a pedestrian was struck by a train approximately 200 yards west of North Dakota Avenue crossing. Officers from the Ames Police Department responded to the scene and located a white male victim in his late 20s. The man was deceased and appeared to have been struck by the train.
The identity of the man is being withheld until positive identification can be made and next of kin are notified. At this time, the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
