Man arrested for drunk driving after violent car crash that put woman in hospital

FORT DODGE – An alleged drunk driver lost control of his pickup truck, leading to a violent crash that ejected a female passenger.

On January 13, 2017 at 4:45 AM, the Fort Dodge Police Department was dispatched to a report of a single vehicle accident in the 3400 Block of 10th Ave North. Upon arrival, officers located a 2003 Chevy Tahoe that had entered the north ditch and rolled several times. As a result of the investigation, the driver of the vehicle was identified as 20-year-old Nolan Randall, who was uninjured. Approximately 40 feet away from the scene, officers located a female passenger who had been ejected from the truck. The passenger, whose name is not being released at this time, was transported to Unity Point Medical Center for treatment. At the time of this release her injury status is unknown.

Randall was arrested and charged with the following:

• Operating while Intoxicated, Causing Serious Injury – Class D Felony
• Failure to Maintain Control – Simple Misdemeanor

Webster County Magistrate William Thatcher ordered the Defendant to be held on $5,000 cash or surety bond with the condition that he report to pretrial release if or when bond is posted. Records show he already posted bond.

The Fort Dodge Police was assisted at the scene by the Fort Dodge Fire Department and Unity Point Hospital.
