CLEAR LAKE – A two-vehicle accident Thursday morning in Clear Lake overturned an SUV, and a Mason City woman suffered a possible injury as a result.
The accident took place just before 7 AM at Highway 18 and North 8th Street in Clear Lake. Jason Earl Meier, age 18 of Garner was driving a 2008 Pontiac Grand AM eastbound on Highway 18 when he allegedly failed to obey a red light. He entered the intersection with North 8th Street as 56-year-old Gale Yvonne Loveless of Mason City was driving through, southbound, in her Ford Explorer. The vehicles collided, and the Loveless’ Explorer was knocked on its side.
As a result, Loveless was extricated from the vehicle by responders. She complained of pain afterwards, a report says. Meier was uninjured. Both drivers were using seat belts. There was approximately $9,000 in damages to the vehicles. Meier was cited for failure to obey traffic signal.
