logo-iowa-state-patrolHARDIN COUNTY, IOWA – An Iowa truck driver lost his life early Monday morning after another trucker lost control of his semi.

The accident took place in the westbound lanes near the 170 mile marker of Highway 20 in Hardin county at about 3:30 AM Monday morning. A 2015 Volvo semi and trailer driven by 30-year-old Sosa Alberto of Illinois was westbound on Highway 20 when it lost control, rolled onto the passenger side and came to rest partially in the roadway. A second semi and trailer driven by 34-year-old Lucas Lodermeier of Searing, Iowa, was also westbound at this time. Lodermeier’s 2007 Volvo struck the rear portion of Alberto’s trailer, causing extensive damage to Lodermeier’s semi. He was pulled from the semi when the seatbelt was cut on impact.

Lodarmeier did not survive the accident. Alberto and his passenger, 27-year-old Martin Feliz, were both injured and taken by ambulance to Ellsworth Hospital.

Highway 20 westbound traffic was stopped for a period of time as the accident scene was cleaned up.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Hardin county sheriff’s office, Iowa DOT maintenance, AMR Ambulance and the Iowa Falls fire department.
