Sheriff’s office investigates suspicious item found at courthouse

MASON CITY – Authorities are investigating a suspicious item found Thursday afternoon at the local courthouse.

An item was found at the Cerro Gordo county courthouse, 220 North Washington Avenue, Thursday afternoon just before 2:00 PM. Sheriff Kevin Pals tells NIT that the item is “suspicious”. He declined to describe the the item other than to say it is “possible drugs” and the item has been “sent in for testing”.

There were no arrests at this time, Sheriff Pals said, and an investigation into the incident is continuing.
