Auto accident claims Northwood woman’s life Thursday

logo-iowa-state-patrolNORTHWOOD – A blown tire caused a fatal auto accident Thursday in Worth county.

At about 9:09 AM on Highway 65 southbound, about two miles south of 400th Street, a 1999 Mazda driven by 57-year-old Kenneth Robert Brevig had a blown tire. Mr. Brevig reportedly then lost control of the vehicle, and it rolled into a ditch. The vehicle came to rest about 25 yards later.

Mercy Air Med helicopter was dispatched to the scene.

As a result of the accident, a passenger in the vehicle, 52-year-old Teresa Evelina Brevig was killed. Robert Brevig was transported to Mercy Hospital in Mason City. The couple is from Northwood.

The accident remains under investigation.
