Jitters Coffee Bar getting drive-up window

MASON CITY – A local coffee shop is getting an upgrade.

Jitters Coffee Bar Downtown > Outback in downtown Mason City is having a drive-up window installed at this time.

Owner Scott Elsbury tells NIT today that he finally cleared all the hurdles with city hall and thinks the drive-up will be a great addition to his business.

“Not sure when it will be ready,” Scott said. “But we think it will be great, and it is much-needed.”

Most coffee shops in town have drive-up windows already, and with the likely additions of new Starbucks and Caribou Coffee locations, Jitters is keeping pace.

City hall didn’t immediately respond to questions about any possible difficulties or red tape Jitters had to overcome to get their drive-up window.

Wednesday, workers from Mason City Glass Service were at Jitters measuring and installing glass in the drive-up.

The drive-up is the latest change to come to the long-time coffee shop. Late last year, Jitters announced it was moving from Southbridge Mall to its new location at 124 4th Street SW. The coffee shop seems to be flourishing there, and added a home-cooked lunch menu and shiny new signs on the building later in the spring.
