Osage woman takes plea deal for stealing from girl scouts

OSAGE – An Osage woman jailed after funds were allegedly misappropriated from a girl scout troop’s bank account has entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to a jail term and must pay back what she took.

The Osage Police Department reported that on February 3, they received a complaint of a Girl Scout Troop account missing money by numerous checks being written. An investigation determined that Jennifer H. Nilges, age 38 of Osage, had written the checks for personal items and not for the girl scouts. Approximately $1,500.00 was taken from the account.

On February 7, the Osage Police Department along with the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence in Mitchell County. On February 15th, Nilges was arrested on charges of Misappropriation of Funds, a Class D Felony and Ongoing Criminal Conduct a class B felony.

Nilges last month entered a guilty plea to third degree theft, a reduced charge to the felony second degree theft charge she originally faced. The Ongoing Criminal Conduct charge was dismissed. She must pay $2,909.64 in fines fees and restitution.
