MASON CITY – Registration is open for summer courses at North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). Students are encouraged to call now and enroll.

Summer school is a great opportunity for many people. “Taking a summer class can help students lighten their course load for the fall. If they are home for the summer, but attend another college or university, we help them transfer those credits back to their school,” said Rachel McGuire, Director of Enrollment Services.

Many online courses are also offered, making it easy for students to enroll and take a course from any location. For students who are planning to graduate from high school, they can get a head start on college, whether they are attending NIACC or another school.

McGuire adds, “Summer classes are a great way to earn some credit and stay in the mode of studying. While these classes tend to be more intense than traditional semester long courses due to the shortened time frame, it allows the student to be more focused rather than trying to balance a full load of classes. Most of our summer students take one or two courses over the summer and find they enjoy the less formal atmosphere of summer classes.”

Session dates are:

Session 1: Begins May 11
Session 2: Begins June 8

To register, contact the NIACC Student Development Office at 641-422-4207 or toll free at 1-888- GO NIACC, extension 4207.
