Suspended driver arrested after smashing up building

CHARLES CITY – A suspended Charles City driver was taken to jail last week after striking a building.

Charles City police were called to the 1900 block of Clark Street on October 16 at about 9:00 PM after 2-year-old Emmanueal Johnson was driving a U-Haul and struck a building. It was said Johnson was leaving the Morningside Apartments that night. Police discovered that Johnson had a suspended driver’s license and no insurance.

Johnson caused about $500 in damage to the building in the collision.
